Logline:

A devout single mother tries to convince the South Asian father of her son's best friend that the active shooter alert at the boys' school is a hoax.

Director’s Statement:

My inspiration for His Truth is Also Mine is the compelling documentary about Alex Jones and InfoWars, The Truth vs Alex Jones. Alex Jones falsely claimed that the Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax. He told his listeners that the hoax was perpetrated by satanic global elites who were trying to take away their God-given right to firearms. An interview subject in the film who followed Alex Jones and believed the school shooting was a hoax says to camera that if it were not a hoax, he would have to admit that he needs to go to a mental asylum. To witness this subject's cognitive dissonance on screen is both disturbing and fascinating.

His Truth is Also Mine is about the breakdown in our ability to come to a consensus on what is real. Have we gotten to the point that we cannot agree that an active shooter alert is actual without having to see with our own eyes that children have been shot? And, have died? As a mother, I am concerned that the debate about the second amendment has created a false polarity which pits the right to bear arms against the well-being of our children in school. That, in and of itself, is madness and is the real hoax – that somehow the safety of our kids in school is mutually exclusive with the our second amendment rights. My intent with His Truth Is Also Mine is to dismantle this false polarity and advocate moving beyond it by making unmistakably clear what is truly at stake: the lives of our children.
